Project Grand Slam is the brainchild of acclaimed bassist/composer Robert Miller. The band’s newest CD, Trippin’, has recently been #1 on the Billboard Contemporary Jazz Chart. PGS has earned over one million video views and over 43,000 Facebook Followers while defying genres, languages and geographic boundaries.
PGS has wowed audiences from Smooth Jazz to Rock, from Millennials to Baby Boomers, at various festivals, Performing Arts Centers and other major venues, headlining and performing alongside a number of major artists, and has cultivated a fervent, worldwide fan base.
In 2018 the band headlined at the following 7 major U.S. and International music festivals:
o Jazz In The Park (AL)
o Rhythm & Rhymes (MI)
o Silda Jazz (Norway)
o Nisville Jazz (Serbia)
o Summer’s Not Over Yet (NJ)
o Shoreline Jazz (MI)
o Jazz, Funk & Blues (CT)
Robert writes and arranges all of the band’s material, including vocal and instrumental originals. One of Robert’s musical signatures is to take Classic Rock hits and “reimagine” them in PGS’s style. So on each CD he’s done this with Jimi Hendrix’ “Fire”, The Kinks’ “You Really Got Me”, Cream’s “I’m So Glad”, The Who’s “I Can’t Explain”, and Phish’s “Free”.
With such diverse influences Robert has delivered a totally unique sound. Robert’s goal with the band is to drive the line between rock and jazz like no other band.
